Welcome back to BDRC! For over 50 years, the BDRC summer camp has offered a fun, summer getaway for young, growing runners from all across the nation. Campers experience a week of strength & skill-building while making new friends and having fun in the cooler climate of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Why choose BDRC?

Brevard Distance Runner's Camp is located in beautiful Brevard, North Carolina. Every summer, our camp hosts 3 weeks of training and fun for teens and preteens who are avid runners yet want to continue to expand their endurance and skills. Cool nights and mild days make the Blue Ridge Mountains the ideal place to train and run during the summer season. And, it's always a blast!

 

2023 Camp SCHEDULE & COSTS

For Campers & Coaches

Runners: If you have a coach, you can come to camp any of the three weeks.

 

We are looking forward to seeing you in 2023! All registration is online. You must pay your deposit at time of registration using a debit or credit card.

You have the option of paying the deposit of $100 online, then pay the remaining balance online by July 1, mailing your balance to the camp (postmarked by June 15), OR bringing your balance to camp as a Money Order, Cashiers Check, or Cash.

Clarification of Costs

For Individuals
  • Individuals must register and can attend for Week 1 only.

  • Individuals would be any person or group attending without a coach.

  • Individuals are grouped together and assigned a member of our staff as their coach.

  • Therefore any group of campers attending week 2 or 3 MUST have a coach in attendance. 

No 2-weekers without a coach. We have to have a day in between sessions for staff training and to let our staff staying in-between weeks rest.

 

Unfortunately, we can no longer accommodate individuals staying 2 weeks. If a team wants to stay 2 weeks, you will be on your own for meals and activities but can stay in the dorms.

Due to the overwhelmingly increased transportation costs, we are eliminating team vs individual pricing and moving to transportation vs no transportation costs. The incentive of bringing a team remains that a coach gets to come free per 7 runners (regardless of gender) and can pick any week to attend.

 

Teams with transportation will also have the ability to run Lake Imaging/Hooker falls and go to retreat at Fawn Lake

*Transportation is deemed as buses or 12-15 passenger vans. Individual cars/minivan are not permitted unless your entire team + coaches can fit in one car. A team is considered 7 runners. No campers will be allowed to drive.

Team Costs

To receive a TEAM discount, regardless of which week you are attending, teams must bring 7 or more runners from the same school, a coach, AND TRANSPORTATION (12-15 Passenger Vans or a Bus): One coach comes free per 7 runners, two coaches with 14 runners.

  • Bus Drivers must be counted as one of your allowable coaches, or they will pay a non-participant fee.

  • Coaches MUST be over the age of 21.

  • Refer to the Coaches application link for more information.

*There will be an additional $50.00 automatically charged to each camper and COACH for a key deposit. The key deposit must be a separate $50 check. You must bring your key deposit with you to registration. This deposit will be returned at the end of camp if key is returned. If you turn your key in, you will receive your check back. Key Deposits will not be returned after you leave camp.

  • All Campers and Coaches must have the Covid-19 Disclosure and proof of insurance uploaded to their online account. Proof of insurance is a copy of BOTH sides of the medical insurance card. Follow these directions if you need assistance. You must copy both sides of the card to one sheet of paper before uploading. Campers are responsible for any and all medical expenses incurred during camp. If allergic to bee stings, you MUST bring your own epipen.

  • The $100 deposit to reserve your space is non-refundable for any reason. If you pay in full and cannot attend camp for medical reasons, you are entitled to a refund minus the deposit. Refunds will be processed weekly.
    A camp t-shirt, lanyard and water bottle are provided for all campers. 

  • Parents, siblings and guests of campers are not allowed to stay on campus or eat in the dining hall.

  • We cannot accommodate campers who wish to arrive before camp begins July 3rd or stay over on July 23rd. There is an additional charge of $50 per day (includes room and supervision) for arriving early or staying late between sessions. You may stay only one extra night. Advance Reservations are required.

    If you need to leave camp before Saturday morning or arrive after 4 pm on Sunday, you must make your own arrangements to get to and from camp. ** DO NOT include flights on your registration if you do not need camp transportation (someone else is picking you up).

Make Airport Shuttle Arrangments

Please read through the instructions before filling out the form. This link was also sent with your confirmation email in the attachment called "What to Bring List." You will need your booked flight information to fill it out.

This MUST be completed AT LEAST 2 WEEKS before your session start date because that is when we arrange transportation. If you fill this out after 2 weeks, you are subject to a $50 pick-up fee and need to email us to confirm we have space.

AVL Air Travel & Shuttle Arrival INFORMATION 2023

For Air Travel, PLEASE Read Carefully Below: 
For BDRC Summer Camp 2023
This MUST be completed AT LEAST 2 WEEKS before your session start date.

That is when we arrange transportation. If you filled this out less than 2 weeks from your session start date, you are subject to a $50 pick up fee and need to email us to confirm we have space. 

READ BEFORE FILLING OUT:
  • BDRC only runs a shuttle to/from the Asheville, NC airport (AVL) within an 8-hour window on Sunday and an 8-hour window on Saturday.

  • We do not pick up at any other airports or locations.

  • We provide free pick-ups arriving on Sunday the day your session starts for flights arriving between the hours of 8 am and 4 pm.

  • We provide free shuttles back to the airport on Saturday of your session end for flights departing between the hours of 6 am and 2 pm.

  • If you arrive or depart outside of these times, there will be a $50 charge or your child can choose to go during those hours and wait unaccompanied at the airport.

Please note this if you are flying outside the times but selected the free shuttle.  

DO NOT EMAIL US FLIGHT ITINERARIES! 

We pull the information from here and must have ample time to schedule drivers and vans for airport pick-ups. We also use these flight numbers to track their flight information for pick-ups.

 

If you are arriving by plane and camp is NOT picking you up, (ie: your grandmother or coach is picking you up), we do not need your flight information. A BDRC staff member will pick you up at baggage claim, look for a BDRC T-shirt.

 

Call 828-883-2399 if you wait more than 1/2 hour or notify us also of any delays en route. This form replaces the flight information provided on your registration form in previous years. If your child's flight is scheduled within the appropriate times but gets delayed, we will not charge you.  

Sunday 2nd, 9th, 16th CAMP BEGINS:

  • Registration is from 11-5PM 

  • Flights must arrive by 4 pm (Free shuttle for flights arriving 8AM-4PM).

  • Flights arriving before 8AM or after 4PM will be charged $50 if you require to pick up outside of the free shuttle. 

Saturday 8th, 15th, 22nd CAMP ENDS:

  • Must be out of rooms by 9am (free shuttle to airport for flights departing 6AM-2PM).

  • Flights on these days before 6AM or after 2PM will be charged $50.

  • We can not accommodate flights departing later than 2 pm on Saturday, July 23rd.

  • All campers will go on the last shuttle of the day on the 23rd regardless of flight time therefore it will be the free shuttle.

  • Parents or coaches are welcome to arrange other transportation to/from the airport if this is not a preferred option. 

For departures:

  • Your son/daughter must attend the flight meeting on Friday evening.

  • Due to the airport distance, we schedule according to flight times and space instead of running a constant shuttle.

  • If the camper prefers to go sooner because they prefer more time, they will need to let them know at the Friday night flight meeting.

ONLY ONE ENTRY PER CAMPER

(please no siblings or teammates together on 1 entry)

All fields are required IF you don't have BOTH an arrival AND departure flight, you can choose the date camp begins/ends, midnight, and please enter "0"s in the flight information in addition to "N/A" for the shuttle.

 

This is the only way we can ensure people fill the dates and times out correctly so we apologize that it isn't perfect!

 

  • This MUST be completed AT LEAST 2 WEEKS before your session start date.

  • DO NOT fill this out if you are planning to go to the airport with your team transportation - this is only if you need BDRC to transport you!

Delays or Canceled Flights: Please contact us via phone (828-883-2399) if your flight is delayed or canceled. We try to track flights but may not get the communication as quickly as the traveler.
